We wanted to spice things up a little bit today with this apple pie protein shake recipe! Trust us, there is nothing better than a refreshing protein shake right after a good workout, but sometimes it gets boring drinking the same flavors every single day. Why not get creative and make something a little different, but still nutritious at the same time?
With Summer coming to an end and Fall being right around the corner, we thought the taste of an apple pie would be the perfect way to say goodbye to warm weather and hello to the beautiful flavors of Autumn. There is something about adding cinnamon and nutmeg to any drink that automatically warms us up to the crisp Fall weather.
We used one of our favorite (and local Pittsburgh) protein brands, About Time Vanilla Protein powder, as the creamy base of this delicious treat. We added 1/2 of a granny smith apple, which are full of antioxidants, vitamin C, and fiber. To get that extra special something we incorporated some vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. We also used cashew milk for this recipe, but really any dairy milk or alternative milk will work perfectly. Add one cup of ice to make this drink extra cold and blend in your favorite blender.
