Striving to help women improve their relationship with food, Dietitian Deanna will lead a discussion around mindful eating and a non-diet mentality, leaving you with the tools you need to set yourself up for success this year by ditching the scale and loving your body. Following the discussion, unwind with a slow-flow yoga class lead by Deonna, a Pittsburgh-based instructor passionate about empowering women through fitness.
Meet the Ladies:
Deanna Wolfe — or Dietitian Deanna, as her 63,000 Instagram followers know her — is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist living and working here in Pittsburgh. After struggling for years to find a diet that made her feel good in both body and mind, she’s found intuitive eating, a method that stresses the importance of tuning into your body signals, ditching the diet, and respecting your hunger instead of restriction. Deanna opened her nutrition coaching company, HealthyBody Nutrition Consulting, in 2015, where she has now worked with thousands of women and men to reach their health goals through a custom, realistic and ‘all-foods-fit’ approach. Her Instagram, website and brand, DietitianDeanna, promotes her stance on intuitive eating along with nutrition tips, body confidence, and female empowerment. She has written in major publications such as Food and Nutrition Magazine, been quoted in many Women’s Health magazine articles and works with national brands including RX bar, Healthade Kombucha, and belVita. She graduated with her Masters Degree in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh and resides on the board of the Pittsburgh Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is passionate about exploring the food scene in Pittsburgh, researching industry topics, and inspiring others to achieve their own health and fitness goals while living a lifestyle full of balance, not deprivation.
Deonna Gandy— a Pittsburgh-based instructor passionate about empowering women through fitness. Deonna began yoga as a stressed out and struggling college student during the Fall of 2012. After dealing with anxiety and depression as a student, she sought out a way to help her succeed through all of her trials and tribulations endured during her collegiate years. Throughout her collegiate career, Deonna did yoga four to five times per week, and sometimes even twice in one day. Yoga was not an exercise for Deonna, but a way of life. Yoga taught Deonna how to deal with her emotions, and manage the stressful situations she encountered throughout her collegiate career. In February of 2017, Deonna decided to begin a journey that would forever change her life, she enrolled in a yoga teacher training program. This would allow her to become a 200-hour RYT yoga instructor, and share her passion for peace and tranquility with others. Now that she is certified through Yoga Alliance, and fully knowledgeable about how to share the practice with others, Deonna is eager to begin practicing with you!
